And the blogging begins…

6 Feb

This entry begins my daily ramblings about the world of digital media convergence. Not being too technologically savvy, I hope to gain skills that will prepare me for a career in the field of communications. Learning more about the ins and outs of modern electronic convergence will boost my resume and make me a well-rounded candidate for a job. I hope to familiarize myself with the latest technology and express my creativity through visual projects. My goal is to learn as much as possible about design techniques, professional opportunities, and multimedia production. In 2013, I plan on graduating from Elon University with a major in Strategic Communications then pursuing a job in public relations. Media has influenced my generation greatly, and advances in technology will continue to alter how information spreads. Since my freshman year of high school, I’ve set my sights on earning a communications degree while building up background experience as a journalist. Writing for my school newspaper, “The Prowler,” enabled me to stretch my imagination and share my views on national and local issues that impacted my peers. I pushed myself to think outside the box by finding unique aspects and original angles to the typical news story. I’m inspired by both the important and insignificant things in life because everything impacts our society and dictates the course of the world. Music has been a major part of my life and brings out my artistic side whether singing along to tunes while writing or simply incorporating musical elements into my work. I’m looking forward to combining my love of the arts with the multi-faceted demands of this course to achieve success both in and outside the classroom.
